No matter the size of your project or company, our expert contractor support services reduces risk with invaluable support
LARGE OR SMALL, OUR INVOLVEMENT IS THE SAME

The risks still exist despite recent construction industry moves towards partnering and open book policies. Standard forms of contract are becoming more complex; project design risk is transferred to the contractor; changes vary the work and sub-contractors try to take advantage. Our focus on the construction and industrial engineering sectors means we are uniquely placed to meet the needs of our clients. The specialist insights our team can provide, supported by their extensive, relevant experience enables us to provide a valuable package of professional services that is rarely available at rates which are realistic for SME businesses.
Affordability that generates an extremely positive return on investment, however, is just one of the reasons why you should partner with Quantum Consult. Many of our clients also benefit from more efficient working practices, process efficiencies and fewer disputes overall, resulting in greater success winning new contracts and the development of a more positive reputation to gain a competitive advantage.

Additional Work Claims
If your construction contract has required additional work that was not included in the original project scope, but you are facing a challenge to being appropriately compensated, we can help through our Forensic Additional Work Claims service.
Often a bone of contention, additional work claims can be stressful because employers usually have a very different perspective on what the project scope entailed, and they dispute that Contractors or Sub-Contractors have had to do anything extra. However, if you believe that you have a justifiable additional work claim caused by events such as changes in the project, unforeseen conditions or an increase in the quantity of a certain task, we can support you to succeed in your claim.
Forsensic Delay Analysis - Time
When construction disputes arise due to delays, it is extremely important that you analyse the circumstances that could have led to the project being delayed and provide as much detailed evidence as possible to support your case.
This is where our Forensic Delay Analysis service can help. Going way beyond a simple recap on events, this applies professionally recognised systematic processes to investigate, document and prove the causes and effects of project delays. We reconstruct project timelines, using best practice, industry recognised time analysis software and techniques like the Critical Path Method, to identify when and why delays occurred, to determine the time liability.
Forsensic Delay Analysis - Money
When delay occurs, our clients want to be compensated in damage recovery. When a delay related claim under your engineering or construction contract is appropriate, we can assist through our Forensic Delay Claims service.
Providing you have a justifiable claim, which we can help you establish via our Forensic Delay Analysis service, we are able to deploy techniques to get to the bottom of what you could be entitled to. Our skills of cost analysis and experience in investigating and quantifying project delays in fine detail means we can ascertain what the financial impact is. Sometimes determining who is liable for a particular claim can be complex involving critical, compensable, and culpable delay, involving concurrent events and liabilities. This involves analysing project records and applying scheduling techniques to identify the root causes of delays and the associated costs.
Forsensic Delay Analysis - Prolongation Claims
If you incur additional costs during an engineering or construction project for reasons that are not your fault, you could make a prolongation claim. We assist our clients through our Forensic Prolongation Claims service.
This service helps Contractors and Sub-Contractors to recover additional costs incurred due to a construction project's timeline being extended as a result of delays outside of their control. These claims typically cover "time-related" expenses like prolonged site management, additional labour costs beyond what was initially envisaged and extended equipment rental, but it could also be in relation to costs for extended guarantees, insurance and head office overheads. We can help make a successful prolongation claim by properly demonstrating a causal link between a compensable delay and the incurred costs, supported by comprehensive documentation.
Disruption Claims
If you have incurred additional costs due to reduced productivity in a construction contract as a result of disruptive events that have hindered your ability to make progress on-site, you will need to make a disruption claim. And we can help you succeed in this process through our Forensic Disruption Claims service by proving that the events occurred, the disruption they caused and how this disruption resulted in financial loss and expense.
Disruption claims are basically requests for any additional costs incurred by a Contractor or Sub-Contractor as a result of some form of interference in a project that has resulted in a loss of productivity, rather than costs resulting from a delay to the overall completion date. For example, you may have been impacted by events such as restricted site access, out-of-sequence work or ‘crowding of trades’, which has lowered your efficiency and productivity and led to increased labour and plant costs.
Earned Value Analysis
Construction projects rarely go according to plan, which is why it is important to be able to understand how a contract is progressing in terms of costs and time versus what was planned.
We have experience of earned value project management techniques, particularly in large engineering projects, where the project progress is assessed by comparing the quantitative data and the cost of work that was planned to have been done by a particular stage, with the amount actually done and what it has actually cost. Our clients use the data for insights into whether a project is ahead or behind schedule and over or under budget. We use the time, cost and value data for the quantification of claims arising from productivity inefficiencies.
Corporate Recovery
Our valuations, applications and claims will advise on appropriate action for difficult debt recovery. Construction can present high risks, and regimes adopted in the industry can defer receipt of payment. Cash flow is paramount, but businesses can be overtaken by events, and costs can quickly exceed revenue.
The skills that quantity surveyors possess as commercial managers and financial experts are applied in full when the demands of corporate recovery are at hand. At Quantum we use our commercial acumen in the swift preparation of valuations, applications and claims to assess the book debt. We also predict the likelihood of success and suggest the most favoured solutions.
This allows the practitioner to properly allocate the necessary measured degree of effort, and to quickly select viable projects while confidently assessing the best available outcome in negotiation, sale or novation. Our regular involvement in dispute resolution equips us with awareness of the current legal position, and allows us to advise on and implement the most appropriate action for difficult debt recovery.
Quantum Consults experience in working with national and international constructors equips us with the width and depth of professional skills needed to act on all types of commercial challenges.
